Wild Garlic

This year I learnt that wild garlic is a thing, AND you can eat it!

Wild Garlic is native to Britain and grows in Spring. You can find these across ancient woodland floors and trust me when I say you can smell them too! I didn’t know that wild garlic was a thing until this year when someone asked if they could pick it nearby. It turns out there is absolutely tons of the stuff only 5 mins walk from where I live. We went and checked it out.

After picking a lot (and trying to avoid leaves that obviously had bird poo on) we took a carrier bag full of it home and gave it a good wash. Then we made Wild Garlic Pesto.

If you like garlic then you should give this a go because it was bloody tasty! Plus Garlic is good for you! Wild Garlic is thought to lower cholesterol and blood-pressure, which in turn helps to reduce the risk of diseases such as heart attack or stroke. 😉

Here is the recipe that you will want to try out. We used hazelnuts instead of pine nuts because we couldn’t find pine nuts anywhere!
